A person who took hostages on a coach on the A9 motorway between Hilpoltstein and Greding in southern Germany has been arrested, German police said. Earlier, the services reported that the man was armed, the police reported “a threatening situation”.
There was supposed to be an argument on the bus. There was talk of a suspicious armed passenger who was in a vehicle with three drivers. All other passengers have meanwhile left the vehicle.
At 21.30 a special task force managed to detain the perpetrator inside the bus. As the head of the operations center said, “it happened without any problems.” All three people who were on the bus were allowed to leave early. The details of the arrested man are not yet known.
Closed highway, coach in the middle of the road
“So far, no weapons have been found. The bus is still being searched,” police said on Twitter late Tuesday evening. According to the daily “Sueddeutshe Zeitung”, the police negotiating team tried to clarify the situation earlier.
Initially, it was not known how many passengers were in the vehicle. The bus was parked between two junctions, between Hilpoltstein and Greding, in the middle of the highway that had been closed. Trains on the nearby Munich-Nuremberg line were also suspended.
According to the “Bild” newspaper, the bus was going to Serbia.
