The Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector announced on Tuesday the withdrawal of the products Amfor Rozgrzewający, Amfor Chłodujący and Amfor Konopny from sale in Poland. The Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector stated that the product descriptions suggest a therapeutic effect, although they have not been approved for sale as such.
The Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector issued a decision to withdraw from circulation the products offered for general sale under the names “Warming Amfor”, “Cooling Amfor”, “Hemp Amfor”.
GIF allegations
GIF explained that the presentation and indications of the products “Warming Amphora”, “Cooling Amphora” suggest a therapeutic effect, because the declared effect is anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic and analgesic. This is inconsistent with the definition of a cosmetic.
“However, the description of the product offered for sale under the name 'Hemp Amphora' suggests that it has properties for preventing or treating diseases occurring in humans or can be administered for the purpose of making a diagnosis or for the purpose of restoring, improving or modifying the physiological functions of the body through pharmacological, immunological or metabolic action,” the inspectorate indicated.
The announcement noted that the product descriptions on the websites contain indications assigned to medicinal products, which is why they should have a valid marketing authorization, but they were sold as cosmetics.
“It should be borne in mind that only medicinal products that have been positively assessed in terms of the safety of their use and properly labeled during the registration process are permitted for general sale and use, and their purchase is only permitted from authorized, authorised sources,” GIF emphasized.
The decision to withdraw the products was made immediately enforceable.
