“As a result of official activities of the State Sanitary Inspectorate, it was discovered [bakterię] Salmonella Newport in 1 of 5 samples of the product indicated below” – GIS informed in announcement on the government website. The Inspectorate reminded that consuming a product contaminated with Salmonella bacteria without subjecting it to heat treatment is associated with the risk of food poisoning.

Chief Sanitary Inspectorate stated that the product against which he issued a warning is Golden Cheese Mazurka 150 g from batch number 30.08/P6 16:59, best before 28.11.2024, barcode 5900820008406. The cheese is produced by Spółdzielnia Mleczarska “MLEKPOL” in Grajewo, ul. Elewatorska 13, Grajewo, 19-203, veterinary identification number PL 20041601 WE.
The announcement emphasised that “the manufacturer has already immediately taken action to withdraw the disputed product from sale” and that “the Veterinary Inspection Authorities are verifying the actions taken by the manufacturer and are conducting explanatory proceedings”.
GIS issued recommendations for consumers
The Inspectorate reminded that the product from the batch covered by their warning should not be consumed. “In the event of symptoms of food poisoning after consuming the above-mentioned product, contact a doctor” – added. The first symptoms of poisoning include abdominal pain, fever, diarrhea, dehydration, nausea and vomiting. They appear within 6 hours to 3-7 days from the moment we had contact with the contaminated product.
GIS also reported that “sometimes a systemic infection with a more severe course, the so-called extraintestinal form, may develop, especially in small children. kidsthe elderly or those with weakened immunity”. Abscesses then form, inflammation of the bile ducts, lungs, meninges, joints, bone marrow, bones and sepsis occur. Salmonellosis can be treated, however.
