Glogowek. Crashed a stolen car. He turned himself in to the police

Police officers from Głogówek (Opolskie Voivodeship) detained a 32-year-old man suspected of stealing a BMW. The man himself turned himself in to the police and admitted that a moment earlier he had crashed his car on one of the buildings and then fled the scene.

The incident happened on Friday morning. Officers received a report of a black BMW entering the building. As initially established on the spot, the driver of the BMW lost control of the vehicle on the curve of the road, hit the house, and then fled with the passenger, leaving the broken car.

– Officers immediately began searching for these people and arrested the passenger of the vehicle shortly after. The driver of the vehicle, meanwhile, reported himself to the local police station. The man reported that he caused a road accident. As it quickly turned out, the vehicle he was driving was stolen a moment earlier from the Biała commune – reports Andrzej Spyrka, spokesman for the police in Prudnik.

The 32-year-old smelled of alcohol and had a head injury. The police gave him first aid and then handed him over to the ambulance service, which took him to the hospital. His blood was drawn for testing.

For stealing a vehicle and driving while intoxicated, he faces up to five years in prison. The owner of the vehicle initially estimated the loss at nearly PLN 100,000.
