Głuchołazy. “Act of vandalism” on the most famous temporary bridge in Poland

Drivers do not comply with speed limit and thus destroy the temporary bridge on Biała Głuchołaska – alerts the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways. The local crossing was broken by the flood in 2024. Officials notified the police about the behavior of drivers.

She said GDDKiAtogether with the notification, the police received a monitoring recording, which shows how the drivers moved violently and brake during the passage through the bridge.

“In this way they led to the destruction of the anchors fastening the silencing plates to the platform, and in effect to their shift and bulge. This, as a consequence, led to damage to several vehicles that invaded protruding elements” – we read in a message published by GDDKiA. Officials call this preservation of vandalism and hope that the recordings will enable the police to “identify the perpetrators and draw financial and civil-legal consequences for them.”

On the temporary bridge in Głuchołazy there is a speed limit to 30 km/h.

The new design will be more resistant

GDDKiA also announced the completion of work on national road number 40 near the hospital in Głuchołazy. This Tuesday, a two -way spirit is to be restored there.

The organization of traffic on ul. Skłodowska – a shuttle will be introduced. Works accompanying road robots are also carried out on the streets of Sikorskiego, Kraszewskiego, Konopnicka and Anders.

Pedestrians and drivers will not benefit from the target bridge over Biała Głuchołaska only in 2026. The object, as announced by GDDKiA, is to be more resistant to flood waters.

“The design of the new bridge on Biała Głuchołaska during DK40 provides for the construction of a single -span and arched object, in reinforced concrete technology. It will have a length of 52 mi width 17 m, two lanes and pavements” – we read in a message.

Broken bridges in Głochołazi

In mid -September last year, the flood wave in Biała Głuchołaska endured two neighboring bridges – a temporary bridge along national road No. 40 and the structure of the target bridge prepared for flooding, called the Andrzej Bridge.

The city, divided by the river, was paralyzed. Under the pressure of water and what it was carrying, the lattice bridge, Wojciech bridge, and a bridge of the swing. Residents and heavy military and fire equipment crossed the private bridge. Pedestrians could also use the footbridge.
