A 43-year-old resident of the village of Golcowa (Podkarpackie Voivodeship) was imprisoned for three months after he threatened his mother and brother that he would kill them, and later set fire to the house where they were staying. The detained man faces up to 10 years in prison.
The incident took place on Friday, October 13, before 10 p.m. That’s when firefighters and police officers were informed about a house fire in Golcowa. Despite the firefighting efforts, the building burned down. – A firefighting expert stated that the fire occurred in an outbuilding immediately adjacent to a single-family house and was set by another person – informed the press officer of the police in Brzozów, aspirant Tomasz Hałka, on Tuesday.
After an argument with his mother and brother, he set the house on fire
The police arrested the arsonist on the night from Friday to Saturday. He turned out to be a 43-year-old man, very well known to law enforcement agencies, who had been convicted many times before.
The prosecutor’s office findings show that on the day of the fire, the man was staying at his place of residence. Before the fire broke out, he was arguing with his mother and brother. – He threatened family members with death, destruction of property and home – said Marcin Bobola from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Brzozów in an interview with PAP.
He was charged and faces up to 10 years in prison
The 43-year-old was interrogated and charged with two charges: making criminal threats and setting fire to a house where members of his immediate family were present. “He pleaded not guilty to the charges,” prosecutor Marcin Bobola told PAP.
At the prosecutor’s request, the court imposed pre-trial detention on the 43-year-old. The man faces up to 10 years in prison.
