After returning home, a resident of the Gołdap commune (Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship) noticed a window pane shot through and found a bullet from a firearm in the curtain. The police determined that it came from a nearby shooting range. They also identified a potential shooter and found a cannabis plantation in his house.

A resident of the Gołdap commune on Saturday (July 29) reported that after returning home, she noticed a damaged glass in the window, and found an object resembling a bullet in the curtain lying on the floor.

– The officers on the spot determined that shootings were taking place at a shooting range 1.5 km away. They could have caused a window pane in a single-family home to be shot through. Fortunately, no one was in the building at the time of the incident. The officers reached the owner of the shooting range and established a list of people who participated in the shooting. They also interviewed witnesses. As they report, they selected and then detained a 41-year-old man who may be related to this event. – Only he shot long guns at the shooting range, other people shot short guns – in an interview with PAP, junior asp. Marta Domańska, press officer of the Gołdap police. She also noted that no charges had been filed against the man so far. During the search, the officers secured seven units of weapons and several dozen rounds of ammunition for the case, which the man was legally in possession of.

The police investigation is to explain under what circumstances, from where and from what weapon the bullet found in the house was fired. For the crime of exposure to direct danger of loss of life or health, a man is liable to imprisonment for up to 3 years.

Growing hemp for personal use

At the place of residence of the 41-year-old, police found cannabis in pots and equipment for growing them.

“The man explained that he had created a small cannabis plantation for his own use,” police said.

The revealed plants will be sent to a forensic laboratory for detailed examination.
