On Friday, August 30, GDDKiA opened a new, 16-kilometer section of the new Zakopianka between Rdzawka and Nowy Targ. “From today, traffic jams in Klikuszowa are a thing of the past,” the General Directorate announced. However, for many drivers nothing has changed, because Google still hasn't updated the map and is following the old route.
Google has not updated the Zakopianka route. Drivers make detours
The journey from Krakow to Zakopane takes about Google Maps 1 hour and 50 minutes. But thanks to the new road, this route can be covered 50 minutes shorter – money.pl wrote on Sunday, September 124 hours later, on Tuesday, September 2, Google Maps still shows the old, longer route.
Money.pl has found that confused drivers are calling GDDKiA. But the institution has only one piece of advice – follow the signs pointing to national road no. 47, and do not trust too much Applicationwhich did not have time to implement the update.
It is also worth remembering that Nowa Zakopianka between Rdzawka and Nowy Targ is not an expressway. So you have to pay attention to speed limits. The investment is not finished yet and for some time there will be a limit of 70 km/h.
Renovation work has started on the old Zakopianka street
Simultaneously with the opening of the last section of the two-lane Zakopianka between Rdzawka and Nowy Targ, work began on the old Zakopianka in Klikuszowa. Due to the construction of a new junction, the old route will be completely impassable there. If drivers enter there, they will have to turn back – reports IAR.
On the old Zakopianka, there are still bottlenecks, e.g. the lights in Libertów. Difficulties can also be expected on the Nowy Targ – Zakopane section, where reconstruction is only being prepared to improve capacity. Drivers will not be able to use this part of the new Zakopianka until the beginning of the next decade at the earliest.
