Google followed Apple's path and decided to slightly refresh the design of its devices. The rounded style that we know well from previous Pixel generations has been replaced by more angular and austere shapes. This change will find as many supporters as opponents. The Mountain View company, however, has not gotten rid of the most characteristic element, the horizontal camera island, which is still a distinguishing feature of the series.
Google Pixel 9
Google Pixel 9, the cheapest of the presented models, has grown slightly compared to its predecessor. Its screen has a diagonal of 6.3 inches. It is an OLED Actua panel with a resolution of 1080 × 2424 and an aspect ratio of 20:9, which offers a variable refresh rate in the range of 60 to 120 Hz. Its peak brightness is 2700 nits (in HDR mode – 1800 nits).
Pixel 9, like other models with new series, is equipped with the Google Tensor G4 chip, which is supported by a coprocessor Titan M2. The first benchmark results show that we are dealing here with a mid-range system, which – as the manufacturer itself boasts – is supposed to cope very well with AI-related calculations.
In terms of built-in memory, we have 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB for user data. There is also a 4700 mAh battery that can be charged at up to 45 W. There is also a wireless charging function (Qi) and reverse charging.
The main camera of the new Pixel consists of two objects. The first one has exactly the same specifications as the previous model (50 Mpix, f/1.68). Google, on the other hand, has refreshed the ultra-wide-angle eye. It now has a resolution of 48 Mpix with a brighter lens (f/1.7).
Google Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL
Google Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL are – as the name suggests – the two most powerful models in the Mountain View company's offer, which differ from each other basically only in terms of screen diagonal and its resolution. The smaller of the models has a 6.3-inch display, and the larger – 6.7 inches.
This is a Super Actua OLED LTPO panel with a variable refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz. It has a peak brightness of 3000 nits (2000 nits in HDR mode). The Pixel 9 has a screen resolution of 1280×2858, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL has a resolution of 1344×2992.
Both devices are powered by the aforementioned Google Tensor G4 system. We have 16 GB RAM and 128, 256, 512 GB or 1 TB of data memory. There are also all the latest connectivity modules. There is Wi-Fi 7 Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, UWB and 5G.
The camera is equipped with a set of three lenses:
- main 50 Mpix, f/1.68, 1/1.31″, OIS;
- ultra wide angle 48 Mpix, f/1.7
- periscopic 48 Mpix f/2.8, 1/2.55″, OIS; 5x optical zoom
All three Pixel 9 models are IP68 waterproof certified. They also launch with Android 14 on board, and the manufacturer promises 7 years of device updates. As for other new features, it is also worth mentioning the support for the satellite SOS function, which we know from iPhones.
Google also boasts about its advanced AI features, which include image and video editing and generating new content. Also new in the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL models is Gemini Live, an intelligent voice assistant based on generative AI technology.

We already know Polish device prices. Unfortunately, Google is starting to catch up with Apple in this regard. The cheapest version of the Pixel 9 is priced at over PLN 4,000, while the most powerful Pixel 9 Pro XL costs almost PLN 7,600. Here is the detailed price list:
