In the town of Goryń (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship), dogs were chasing a moose. The animal broke its leg and got stuck in the quagmire. The vet had to euthanize it because it would no longer be able to function in its natural environment. The owner of the dogs will face the consequences.

The incident took place on Thursday (April 11) in the afternoon. Firefighters from the Goryń Volunteer Fire Department in the Iława district received a report about an injured moose that was trapped in a quagmire.

In addition to firefighters, a police patrol also appeared at the scene. It turned out that the moose was chased by dogs that were not supervised by the owner.

– The owner of the dogs, a 40-year-old resident of the Kisielice commune, will be held liable under Article 77 of the Petty Offense Code. The point is that he did not take care of his animals, which caused the moose, which is a protected species, to escape and an unfortunate event occurred – said staff aspirant Joanna Kwiatkowska, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Iława.
