Police from Gostyń detained a 64-year-old suspected of stealing an elderly woman’s wallet. The incident took place in one of the supermarkets. Everything was recorded by surveillance cameras.
The theft took place on July 31 in one of the supermarkets in Gostyń. The older man took advantage of the older woman’s momentary inattention and stole the wallet from the open purse that she had on her shoulder. The woman lost PLN 710.
Thanks to the recordings from the surveillance cameras, the policemen could see exactly what the course of this incident looked like. The film was posted on Twitter by Andrzej Borowiak, the press spokesman of the Greater Poland Police. “The profession of a pickpocket does not die,” he wrote.
– This situation shows how careful you should be when shopping. Pickpockets take advantage of even the slightest moment of inattention of their victim, do not let go of the occasions that, unfortunately, we often create ourselves – points out Monika Curyk from the police in Gostyń.
The 64-year-old gave the money back
The district and operational policemen from Gostyń were involved in establishing the perpetrator of the theft. They managed to select and detain a suspect in this case. He is a 64-year-old resident of Kostrzyn Wielkopolski.
– The 64-year-old was charged with theft and voluntarily submitted himself to the punishment. The man returned the money he stole. On the same day, the policemen handed them over to the aggrieved woman – says Curyk.
As it turned out, the man had a previous record of theft and fraud. – After the trial was completed, he was handed over to officers from Śrem, as it turned out, he also committed the theft there – concludes Curyk.
