Two men attacked a passerby in Gostynin, punching him in the head. When the attacked said he was a policeman, the attackers ran away. They were arrested after an hour. They face up to three years in prison for the beating.
As the spokesman for the Poviat Police Headquarters in Gostynin informed on Friday, junior asp. PaweÅ‚ Klimek, the assault took place at the beginning of the week, when two residents of the district aged 23 and 35 “accused verbally a man who was talking on the phone passing by” – the attackers ran to the passerby and began to punch him in the head and in the body.
– When the attacked informed that he was a policeman, the attackers ran away. The officer was provided with medical assistance in connection with the incident. Nothing threatens his life and health – said the young asp. Klimek.
Arrested and arrested
As he explained, the attacked policeman was off duty, and the attackers explained after the arrest that “not knowing that the man was talking on the phone, they thought that he had said something to them that caused aggression.”
The spokesman for the Gostynin police emphasized that thanks to the detailed descriptions of both men provided by the attacked police officer and the immediate reaction of the duty officer of the unit, the attackers were apprehended an hour after the incident in the center of Gostynin. – They were both intoxicated – added young asp. Klimek.
As he noted, the collected evidence allowed the 23- and 35-year-old to be charged with beatings, which is punishable by imprisonment of up to three years. At the request of the District Prosecutor in Gostynin, the court placed both men in pre-trial detention for a period of three months.
