Monday is another day of the meeting of party leaders forming the government coalition, but this time the participants are also ministers. The topic of the talks is the draft budget for 2025. – This is where the election promises and issues that the coalition partners care about are hidden somewhere – pointed out Arleta Zalewska, a reporter from “Fakty” TVN. She also said that the party leaders are trying to “extinguish the tensions” that have recently appeared between the individual participants of the government coalition.
Prime minister Donald Tusk informed during his speech at Campus Polska Przyszłości on Friday that another meeting with Szymon HołowniaWładysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Vladimir the Black and all ministers regarding the state budget for 2025.
As Arleta Zalewska, a reporter from “Fakty” TVN, said, the meeting is unprecedented in that it was organized in a very broad format. – There is supposed to be one topic there, that is the budget project – she said and added that it is now the most important issue in the government coalition, because “it concerns a million different important matters” and “election promises and issues that the coalition partners care about are hidden somewhere there”. She pointed out that this concerns, among others, the health insurance contribution, zero percent creditas well as issues related to housing. – In the coming days we will find out in what form and whether money will be secured for this in this budget. According to my information, the first provisions are actually supposed to be there – she added.
The journalist also talked about the previous meeting of the leaders of the ruling coalition, which took place last Thursday and which concerned the differences in the coalition partners’ positions before the upcoming post-recess session of the Sejm.
– This is where the coalition partners came with two or three key issues for them, which they put on the table, and – as I understand it – this coalition will strive to try to implement at least those issues that individual parts of this coalition care about. Will it be easy, how much Donald Tusk will facilitate reaching an agreement on these matters, the coming weeks will show us – Arleta Zalewska continued.
– But – I see it now, and I haven't seen it in recent months – it seems to me that there is such a will on the part of the leaders to do at least something important in these coming months. I believe that these will not be the fundamental issues, for example for the Left, i.e. the issue of women's rights, civil partnerships – she indicated and added that the coalition leaders will want to focus on economic issues first.
The coalition will survive, but the disputes are real
As the reporter for “Fakty” TVN said, from her observations of behind-the-scenes talks between representatives of the parties forming the government, it follows that the coalition will survive until the next parliamentary elections. – But these disputes are not made up, they are real. And that is also the problem of the leaders, who have heated up these (party – ed.) pits a bit during the local government elections or the European Parliament elections. And now they are trying to extinguish these tensions, and they are real. Many ministers, MPs from different coalition parties have mutual complaints about various words that were said during these campaigns, about various accusations that they exchanged publicly. And now we have to sort this out somehow – said Arleta Zalewska.
