The stork fell from the nest and broke its leg. He waited for help for three days before a special animal ambulance arrived for the injured bird. The incident took place near Łask (Łódź Province), the stork ended up in a bird sanctuary in the Warsaw zoo.

The injured bird was lying under the tree where its nest is located. A resident of Rokitnica (Łódź Voivodeship) found him and tried to help him. – On Wednesday I got a call from a gentleman from Łask, he said that he found a stork lying down, which cannot get up. He asked me for support, so that I could transport the stork to his center – says Artur Paul from the association “I help Storks” near Żychlin.

A special ambulance has come for the stork

Paul could not react immediately, because at that time he was saving a small stork near Łowicz. However, when he was returning from the intervention, he called a friend from Częstochowa who has a special “ambulance” for animals. – He agreed to help without hesitation – emphasizes the social worker. He adds that the ambulance came for the injured stork two hours later.

– When the ambulance arrived, the stork was ready to ride – says Jacek Tomasz Suchomel, president of the Association “Swifts-friendly Częstochowa, ambulance for animals”. And he describes: – In the ambulance we have a deck adapted to animals, LED night lights were turned on so that the bird would not stress. I was sitting next to him and the stork was riding “on the bombs”.

On the route, the ambulance crew met Paul. – We arrived quickly, because it was about time to give the stork steroids and drugs – explains Suchomel.
