Grain from Ukraine, farmers’ protest in Hrubieszów. Mayor of Hrubieszów Marta Majewska: they want to see the cards on the table

Farmers are protesting in Hrubieszów (Lubelskie Voivodeship).. They want the tariffs back. They are not reassured by the announcement of the Minister of Agriculture that the transports of Ukrainian grain will pass through Poland in transit. They also do not believe in the government’s assurances that by the time of this year’s harvest, it will be possible to remove the grain from Poland, which is now in storage.

Marta Majewska, the mayor of Hrubieszów, was the guest of Agata Adamek on Friday in “One for One” on TVN24. – Farmers’ protests are also an expression and confirmation that this area is in a difficult situation – she said.

She added that “from the very beginning it has been peaceful, there are no situations that would threaten our residents in any way.” – But it must also be made clear that the protest destabilizes this part of the city, the life and work of people commuting here. Nevertheless, the very idea of ​​showing the problem of the hitherto unregulated entry of cereals into Poland was absolutely important – emphasized Majewska.

– The inhabitants of Hrubieszów and the border areas have thick skin and great patience with this situation. They also have a lot of uncertainty and that’s why this protest has been extended. I think this is due to the fact that they want to check, they want to see the cards on the table and see how these government announcements will be implemented in real terms and implemented – said the mayor.

When asked where farmers’ uncertainty about the government’s announcements comes from, she replied: – It is a matter of observing what is happening and talking to farmers. People came to us not only from the Lubelskie Voivodeship, but from all over Poland.
