A grandmother was left with a black eye after she seems to have been punched by a police officer.

Footage reveals Colleen Murphy fall to the bottom as she was hit whereas her son was being arrested for drunk and disorderly behaviour.

Better Manchester Police (GMP) stated officers had been referred to as a report of a “disturbance” on Union Avenue in Oldham after 9pm final Saturday.

Ms Murphy’s son had gone contained in the grocery store together with his sister, Danielle Willisford, whereas his cousin and mom had been refused entry.

Ms Willisford informed the Manchester Night Information: “Me and my brother got here out with a number of beers and one thing for the youngsters to eat and we have been getting informed what had gone on – they could not go in and anyway the police turned up.

“He stepped into Sainsbury’s after which the policeman within the yellow high stated ‘you’re barred, I simply informed you, you’re barred’ after which began shouting and my brother simply stated ‘will you please get out of my face I’ve executed nothing unsuitable’.

“Anyway, he grabbed him and flung him on to the ground and the complete video is what occurred after that.”

In a video shared on social media, police could be seen pushing folks away as they arrest Ms Murphy’s son exterior Sainsbury’s.

Ms Willisford informed the paper: “So my mum, as he has punched my brother within the head, has walked over and stated ‘you are hurting him, cease hurting my son’. She’s a touchy-feely individual and he or she was inebriated. The way in which he hit her, he might have killed her.

Her brother was fined for being drunk and disorderly.

GMP stated the incident has been referred to its Skilled Requirements Division.

In a press release, a spokesperson stated: “Better Manchester Police are conscious of a video circulating on-line which reveals an altercation between officers and a member of the general public while a person is being arrested.

“This incident happened after police have been referred to as simply after 9pm on 7 August and responded to a report of a disturbance on Union Avenue, Oldham.

“A 31-year old-male was subsequently arrested for being drunk and disorderly. On the time of his arrest a crowd had gathered, and pictures of the incident has been uploaded onto social media.

“The footage reveals an altercation with members of the general public making an attempt to intervene, whereas officers positioned the person beneath arrest.

“The person acquired a set penalty discover (FPN) for being drunk and disorderly. There have been no accidents reported.

“The incident has been referred to our Skilled Requirements Division, who will evaluate the Physique Worn Video of occasions main as much as the arrest, together with the footage posted.
