Michał Szczerba from the Civic Coalition, who recently conducted an inspection at the National Center for Research and Development, said in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 that “the audacity and greed of PiS is so striking that they simply push with their knees, push projects that are not innovations with their legs” . Magdalena Biejat from the Left Club, referring to the controversy related to funding from the National Center for Research and Development, assessed that “it is especially shocking that this is happening in a situation where Polish scientists, academics, (…) cannot ask for real increases at Minister Czarnek.
Members of the Civic Coalition MPs Michał Szczerba and Dariusz Joński carried out control at the National Center for Research and Development (NCBR). Their attention was drawn to two companies that received a total of PLN 178 million in the “Fast Track” competition. PLN 55 million was awarded to a 26-year-old who founded the company after the announcement of the recruitment for the competition with the share capital of PLN 5,000. PLN 123 million went to a company from Białystok, which – as the deputies established – has been loss-making every year since its establishment in 2020. According to the deputies, “there is a legitimate suspicion that the competition has been rigged.”
Last week The Central Anti-Corruption Bureau has started an inspection at the National Center for Research and Development.
Szczerba: in an election year, PiS’s audacity and greed are shocking
– We were at the NCRD, we saw the five billion that this institution spends annually on entrepreneurs, on innovations, on science, on development, but it turns out that in an election year this audacity and greed of PiS is so shocking that they simply push knee, push projects that are not innovations with their feet – said Michał Szczerba in “Kropka nad i”.
– And all the companies that receive these types of subsidies (…) are all people associated with the Republican Party Adam Bielan – he said.
The MP also stated that “PiS treated all of Poland as political loot and decided to steal it.”
Biejat about the “fast track to building support outside”
The case was also commented on by Magdalena Biejat from the Lewicy club.
– I think it is very significant, and it is worth noting, that the program used to extract money from the National Center for Research and Development was called – nomen omen – “Fast Track”. A quick path to building support outside and diverting state funds in order to have money for the campaign, and then to survive – if this campaign is lost – for which, it seems, Law and Justice is getting ready – said the MP of the Left.
– It is especially shocking to me that this is happening in a situation where Polish scientists, academics, people who should be funded the most, cannot ask for real raises from Minister Czarnek, this money is simply spent for colleagues and dudes while academics and scientists are poor, Biejat continued.
