British Prime Minister Boris Johnson once again became a father. His wife Carrie gave birth to a healthy baby girl at a London hospital on Thursday morning, the couple’s spokeswoman said.
“The Prime Minister and Mrs. Johnson are delighted to announce the birth of a healthy girl in a London hospital. Both mother and daughter are doing very well. The couple would like to thank the brilliant NHS maternity team for all their care and support,” said spokeswoman Boris Johnson.
When Carrie Johnson announced in July that she was expecting a baby, she also revealed that she had had a miscarriage earlier this January.
The Johnson family is growing
Their first child was born in April 2020, shortly after the British Prime Minister left the hospital after being severely contracted by the coronavirus. Johnson’s son was named Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas – the first two are in honor of the couple’s grandparents, and Nicholas is a thank you to two doctors, Nick Price and Nick Hart, who treated Johnson in the intensive care unit.
Boris Johnson, 57, and Carrie Symonds, 33 they got married in May this year during a small secret wedding ceremony at Westminster Cathedral. Johnson thus became the first British Prime Minister in almost 200 years to get married while in office.
This is Johnson’s third marriage. In his youth, he married Allegra Mostyn-Owen, with whom he had no children, and with his second wife Marina Wheeler, with whom he has been married for over a quarter of a century, he has four of them. Johnson also has one illegitimate child, the fruit of an affair with consultant Helen Macintyre. But it wasn’t until September of this year that he clearly admitted how many children he had, thus cutting off the guesswork that had been going on for many years.
