Queen Elizabeth II will not attend Remembrance Day celebrations after she has strained her back, Buckingham Palace said.
“The Queen is very disappointed that she will not attend the ceremony,” the statement read. The main Memorial Day celebrations to commemorate British Armed Forces veterans who have fallen on fronts around the world always take place in front of the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London, near the Prime Minister’s headquarters at 10 Downing Street.
As the Reuters agency writes, this event is one of the most important celebrations in which she participates in the entire annual cycle of events for Queen Elizabeth II.
An anonymous source at Buckingham Palace cited by the agency said a back injury was not related to the monarch’s recent hospital stay.
