The number of billionaires in Great Britain has fallen for the second year in a row, although the wealth of the Hinduja family, which tops the list of the richest inhabitants, has increased to a level never achieved before in its history – according to the annual ranking of “The Sunday Times Rich List”, published on Friday. Only in 258th place is King Charles III of Great Britain, whose fortune was estimated at 610 million pounds. Above him is Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

The Sunday Times Rich List includes 165 people or families living in the UK whose fortune is at least one billion pounds, up from 171 last year and 177 in 2022, which was a record in the 36-year period. ranking history.

The list opens, just like a year and two years ago, with Gopi Hunduja and his family, born in India owner of the industrial and financial conglomerate Hinduja Group. The average wealth of people in the top ten list is £21 billion, which is almost half as much as the average wealth of the top ten five years ago. In turn, the total assets of the entire 350-name list of “The Sunday Times Rich List” is 795.3 billion pounds – 1.1 billion less than last year, but, as the media points out, more than the annual Poland's GDP.

King Charles far behind

The King of Great Britain is only in 258th place Charles III, whose fortune was estimated at £610 million. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is higher than him, although he owes his presence on the list mainly to the fortune of his wife Akshata Murta, who is the daughter of an Indian billionaire, the founder of the IT giant, Infosys. Sunak and Murty were ranked 245th, with a net worth of £651m, an increase of £122m on last year.

The last person, 165th, with a fortune of at least one billion pounds, is former member of The Beatles Paul McCartney. He is the first British musician in history to reach this mark. In turn, the last person on the list of the 350 richest is British Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, whose fortune is 350 million pounds.
