Storm Henk’s impact on the British coast was captured on video. As its author said, strong gusts of wind almost ripped the phone out of his hand. The storm caused damage on the Islands and other parts of Europe.
On Tuesday afternoon and at night Storm Henk hit parts of Western Europe. The storm brought heavy downpours and strong gusts of wind, which resulted in the death of three people and caused serious traffic disruptions in many regions.
Strong gusts of wind
Footage posted on social media shows winds hitting the coast of Weston-super-Mare on Tuesday. As its author told Reuters, strong gusts almost ripped the phone out of his hand when he was capturing the entire scene. Everything ended well, although the author added that his clothes were full of sand.
According to the British weather agency Met Office, the strongest wind gusts during Storm Henk were measured at a weather station located near Cape Needles on the Isle of Wight. They reached over 151 kilometers per hour. There was also strong wind at Exeter airport – there the gusts reached a maximum speed of 130 km/h.
