The incident took place last week in broad daylight when Rafał Kalinowski, who lives in Great Britain for 10 years and works as a warehousemanhe was coming home from work.
Great Britain. Pole attacked in the street
– I thought there was something wrong when I saw moped drivers driving (…) without license plates. They were going the opposite direction and were looking at my moped. I noticed that they turned around and were following me. One of them had a hammer, he told the Daily Mail.
The attackers they pushed a Polish man off the road onto the sidewalk in such a way that he fell off his bike, but before they could take it away from him, Kalinowski pulled it out of his backpack red paint spray, used for self-defense, which he usually carries with him. He also started cursing at them in Polish, which further confused the perpetrators.
As the Daily Telegraph, which also reports on the story, explains, the spray has a dual role – it irritates the eyes of attackers, giving the victim time to escape, and it also stays on the skin and clothes for several days, which makes it easier for the police to identify the perpetrators.
Thanks to this, the very next day after the case was reported, Kalinowski was summoned to the police station to compare traces of paint on the clothes of those detained with his spray.
The police arrested four people
Attack scene was recorded by Kalinowski with a mini-camera placed on his backpack. The Pole then posted it on TikTok and X, where it has already been viewed by over 40 thousand people.
Last week the police arrested four people – two 20-year-olds, an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old – in connection with the attempted theft of a Polish man’s bicycle and four other thefts or attempted thefts of bicycles, scooters and a mobile phone committed that day and the next day.
