A decade ago, Sabine Lisicki was one of the world's top tennis players, although she had never won a Grand Slam tournament. Polish fans will remember her match from 2013 the most. Back then, in the semi-finals of Wimbledon, after a thrilling clash, she defeated Agnieszka Radwańska, winning 9:7 in the third set! In the match for the title, she lost to the Frenchwoman Marion Bartoli 1:6, 4:6. At that time, Lisicki was the first German woman in the singles final of Wimbledon since 1999, when the famous Steffi Graff reached this stage of the competition.

35-year-old (she celebrated her birthday a week ago) Sabine Lisicki played her last match on the court in December last year, when she was defeated by Nigina Abduraimov in the challenger in Dubai.
Lisicki did not play this season because she was on maternity leave. “Life is full of unexpected surprises. My fiancé and I are looking forward to this exciting journey. I think I will have to make another comeback,” Lisicki said at the time.
