After a day-long manhunt, the police detained 24-year-old Marcin W. suspected of a double homicide in Wielkopolska. The man turned himself in on Thursday evening. On Friday, he was transported to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Poznań, where he will be charged. Two murders took place in Międzychód County in two different towns. Earlier, the police organized a manhunt for him, published a photo of the suspect and offered a reward for help in his capture.

Recall that on Wednesday in the village of Muchocin, firefighters found the body of a 22-year-old man in a flat that had been extinguished after arson. The nature of the injuries indicated homicide. According to the police, the perpetrator took the victim’s car and fled.

On the same day in the evening, the police received a report that in Międzychód, a few kilometers away, a body of a 45-year-old woman had been found in one of the flats. The nature of the injuries also indicated homicide. The police connected the two incidents, identified a suspect and launched a manhunt.

On Thursday, a photo of the wanted 24-year-old was published and a reward was offered for help in his capture.

According to unofficial information, the murdered people had previously testified against the suspected man.

The spokesman for the Wielkopolska police, the junior inspector Andrzej Borowiak, also confirmed the information provided by the local media that the wanted man had previously been in a psychiatric hospital. – He did not run away from him, his stay there ended and he left the facility in March last year – he noted.

On Thursday, around 8:00 p.m., Marcin W. reported himself to the District Police Headquarters in Międzychód. – He was formally detained – said sub-inspector Iwona Liszczyńska from the Wielkopolska police on Thursday evening.

– At the moment it is difficult to contact the man. We, on the other hand, are focused on finding out where he was, where he was recently. He reported himself to the command. We are focusing on bringing the man to the prosecutor’s office, where further procedural steps will certainly be carried out with him, said deputy inspector Liszczyńska on TVN24 around 9 pm.
