Two trains collided near Larissa in central Greece – a passenger and a freight one. The local fire brigade reported that two carriages caught fire. State broadcaster ERT reported after midnight that “dozens of people” were injured after a passenger train collided with a freight train outside the city of Larissa. “26 people died and at least 85 were injured,” fire department spokesman Vassilis Varthakogiannis said two hours later. Ambulances arrived from several nearby towns to help transport the injured passengers.
