The body of famous British TV presenter and doctor Michael Mosley was found on the Greek island of Symi, local authorities announced on Sunday. A journalist who was on vacation in Greece went missing on Wednesday while walking.

Contact with 67-year-old Mosley was lost on Wednesday afternoon when he was walking back from the beach. The doctor's wife reported him missing on Thursday morning. Then the search for the man began. The search operation focused on the place where one of the island's inhabitants supposedly saw him. Tracking dogs, a diving team and a helicopter were deployed. Surveillance recordings were checked.

On Sunday, Greek police announced that a body that may belong to a British presenter was found near one of the island's beaches. Local authorities later confirmed it was Mosley.

It is possible that the journalist felt weak or tripped and fell into the sea. Then the body was washed ashore with the current.

The search for Michael Mosley

A British celebrity doctor went missing on Wednesday on Symi – a Greek island in the Dodecanese archipelago. His relatives last saw him that day around 1:30 p.m. The man then left the Agiou Nikolaou beach, where he was staying with them, and went for a walk towards the center of the island, the BBC reported.

According to the information obtained by the portal from the deputy mayor of Simi, Ilias Chaskas, on the same afternoon Mosley was allegedly seen in Pedi – a town 1.5 kilometers away from Agiou Nikolaou beach. One of the residents of the town allegedly noticed him there. Due to this, the search operation was focused around this area, the BBC reported.

The police collected recordings from nearby surveillance cameras, reports the website nikos.gr. One of the recordings allegedly shows Mosley talking to a woman at Pedi. However, it is not known whether this is the same woman who reported to investigators that she saw the missing 67-year-old on Wednesday afternoon. It is also not certain whether the man captured in the recording is actually the missing doctor, notes nikos.gr. As the website explains, doubts are raised by the fact that he is wearing different clothes than those in which Mosley's relatives last saw him.

The LiFO website noted that Mosley could have simply disguised himself because – according to his findings – it was in Pedi that he lived during his holidays. However, according to the wanted man's wife, it was another man – adds the website.
