Histopathological and toxicological tests, as well as tests of genetic material secured on the victim’s body and on objects found with the body, will help identify the perpetrator of the murder of 27-year-old Anastasia and possible accomplices – explains forensic pathologist Grigoris Leon. In the Greek media, there are further reports about the death of a Polish woman on the island of Kos. One of the portals reported that the murder was to take place in an abandoned house near where the body was found.

An autopsy of Anastasia’s body took place on the island of Rhodes on Monday late evening, which confirmed that the woman had been strangled. However, doctors stressed that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, which made examinations much more difficult. It is still not known what exactly happened in the last moments of her life.

“When the body is exposed, decomposition occurs up to three times faster than, for example, in the case of a body that has been buried,” Grigoris Leon told Greek ERT.

According to him, histopathological and toxicological tests will tell more about the crime in Poland. “We are aware that the victim may have received substances, such as drugs,” he explained.

According to the expert, an important role in the investigation will be “evidence and traces on the body that will help determine the perpetrator.” He noted that in cases of this type, samples are taken from both the victim’s body parts and items secured on site.

Based on the collected genetic material, which could also be left on items used to transfer the body, investigators will be able to determine both the perpetrator and the accomplices of the crime, if any, noted the pathologist.

Greek media: the murder took place in an abandoned house

On Tuesday, the Greek portal Ethnos, citing reports from a journalist from Open TV, reported that the hands of the Polish woman were handcuffed. According to the information obtained by the portal’s reporters, there was no mobile phone or money in the young woman’s purse.

The Greek portal MEGA TV, citing information from the investigators, reported that the Polish woman was to be lured by the murderer to an abandoned house and murdered there. The girl’s body, found Sunday, was in a large plastic bag, similar to those found in the house.

Other items from the abandoned house, including a shoe and a cigarette butt, were sent to the lab for analysis.

As emphasized by the portal that published photos and recordings from the abandoned house, it is close to where the body was found, so the suspect could have transported it himself, but the help of other people is not excluded.

As the portal emphasizes, the girl was most likely tortured to death.

A suspected Bangladeshi citizen

The main suspect in the murder of a Polish woman is a 32-year-old man from Bangladesh, who was arrested by the police, but has consistently pleaded not guilty. So far, he has been charged with kidnapping and a sexual act with a person unable to resist.

As noted by the Greek media, the tragedy of the young Polish woman resembles the crime from 2018, when two men, a Greek and an Albanian, raped and murdered 21-year-old student Eleni Topaloudi and threw her body into the sea.

The murder of a Polish woman

Anastazja Rubińska disappeared on Monday, June 12, on the Greek island of Kos, where she worked in one of the hotels. On Sunday, Greek media reported that the body of a 27-year-old Polish woman had been found.

The bodies were found around 7 p.m. local time, about a kilometer from the home of a 32-year-old man from Bangladesh who was arrested earlier by police and 500 meters from where the Polish woman’s mobile phone was found on Saturday.
