Green transformation suspended? As informed by the first vice president of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) Marta Postuła, The possibility of accepting applications for a “green city transformation” will be suspended from April 30. BGK, managing funds from the KPO, currently has PLN 13.7 billion at his disposal, while the positively considered applications from local governments cover almost PLN 13 billion, and many of them are still waiting for consideration. Only a few hundred million zlotys remained to be allocated.
Defense shifts: The reason is the government's decisions, which decided to spend more on defense. Initially As much as PLN 40 billion was allocated to the KPO to the green transformation preferential loans. The ministry of funds, however, decided that 26 billion from this sum is to be moved to the new Security and Defense Fund (FBIO). It was explained that local government officials would not have been using the entire pool anyway. However, it turned out that it was different. Since the announcement of the government's decision, the influx of applications regarding the ecological program has increased, and the total amount for new applications is over PLN 2 billion.
Invisible estimates? Even at the beginning of March, the deputy head of the Ministry of Funds Jan Szyszko, in an interview with Money.pl, assessed that PLN 40 billion delegated to the green transformation was a significant oversight. Meanwhile Local government officials had reservations to the minister of funds Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz regarding the lack of official notification of their shiftsbecause, as they claimed, they learned about everything mainly from the media. However, the supposition that the current increase in conclusions is a kind of revenge for such treatment they definitely reject. – The submitted applications are the result of earlier, often several years of preparation. We just accelerated their preparation. We do it faster in fear. – said Marek Wójcik from the Association of Cities Polish.
What will the money go? Mentioned 26 billion (initially it was supposed to be even 30 billion) is to help finance such projects as Modernization of the defense industry, expansion of strategic infrastructure of population protection (shelters), security of energy networks or the development of modern defense technologies. In addition, existing in bank The Armed Forces Support Fund is to finance the purchase of military equipment. In addition to the distribution of KPO funds, BGK representatives will also deal with EU funds from 150 billion euro fund Brussels plans to create for support for EU defense.
