The Zielona Góra police have published a surveillance video of an electric scooter user being hit by a car driver and are appealing for caution in the areas of pedestrian and bicycle crossings.

As reported on Tuesday by the spokesman of the Lubusz Police, Deputy Inspector. Marcin Maludy, the hit-and-run occurred during rush hours on Monday (October 2), on ul. Union in Zielona Góra. At a designated crossing for cyclists, the driver of a Renault hit a man on a scooter.

– The car driver did not notice that another car had stopped in the right lane before the crossing to let a man riding a scooter pass, he passed the vehicle and when he saw the scooter driver in the middle of the crossing, it was too late to react appropriately – he was hit, said Maludy.

Appeal to comply with the regulations

The police remind all road users to follow road traffic regulations, and remind pedestrians, cyclists and people using electric scooters to always make sure before entering or entering a crossing or crossing that they can safely cross to the other side.

– Let us remember that even if a pedestrian, cyclist or person on a scooter has the right of way, they should first and foremost take care of their health and safety, because they suffer more serious injuries in a collision with any vehicle. Let’s also use helmets, although they are not obligatory – added the spokesman.
