He overtook other cars despite the double solid line and pedestrian crossing. His irresponsible driving was recorded by another driver, who then sent the video to the police mailbox “Stop road aggression”. The 26-year-old BMW driver from Sosnowiec (Silesian Voivodeship) will now appear in court. In addition to 20 penalty points, he faces a fine of up to PLN 30,000.
The event visible in the recording took place on the provincial road No. 913 in Gródków (Silesian Voivodeship). The officers had recordings from two cameras – one showed what was happening in front of the vehicle and the other what was behind the vehicle.
In the video published by the police, you can see that a bright BMW passes an island separating the lanes and starts an overtaking maneuver. He continues it for several hundred more meters, oblivious to the fact that he is driving next to a double solid line. After overtaking the first vehicle (in which the cameras were installed), the BMW driver continues in the left lane and thus crosses the pedestrian crossing. He returns to his lane only when two other cars – a passenger car and a van – are already behind him.
The task of establishing the identity of the driver was handed over to the police officers from the police station in Wojkowice.
– It turned out that a 26-year-old resident of Sosnowiec was behind the wheel of a BMW – says Sub-Commissioner Sabina Chyra-Giereś from the press office of the Silesian Police.
20 penalty points, up to 30,000 fines
The officers filed a motion to the court to punish the driver. Now – according to the police – the 26-year-old faces a fine of PLN 30,000. The driver will also receive 20 penalty points.
We urge you to use common sense and caution when traveling on the roads. Bravado and disregard for the rules have often led to tragic events – emphasizes the police officer.
He adds that officers are increasingly receiving recordings on the basis of which fines are imposed on irresponsible drivers.
The incident took place in Grodków.
