The prosecutor's office is investigating a fire at a high school in Grodzisk. Experts are determining the causes of the fire. “The fire destroyed the building, but it will not destroy our will to fight for a quick return to the walls of our beloved ZS1” – emphasized on the school profile.

– An investigation into this case was initiated by the District Prosecutor's Office in Grodzisk Mazowiecki and it concerns bringing a direct threat to the life and health of many people and large-scale property in the form of fire (Article 163, paragraph 1, point 1 of the Penal Code) – says Szymon Banna, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw.

An on-site inspection was carried out with the participation of a firefighting expert. – Process activities are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire. At the moment, there are no opinions in this regard – adds the representative of the prosecutor's office.

Matura exam interrupted

On Monday at noon at the high school in Grodzisk Mazowiecki there was a fire. The roof of the building caught fire. At that time, the school was taking the secondary school leaving examination. The high school final exam was interrupted and students and teachers were evacuated, approximately 60 people in total. After a few hours it was under control.

Almost 50 fire protection units were involved in the fire. As Krzysztof Stefaniak from the Grodzisk fire brigade said, the place of operations was divided into four combat sections: the fire in three sections was extinguished from the outside, and in one section the fire was extinguished inside the facility.

“Dear students, graduates, parents and friends of ZS1… There was no indication that we would have to face such a tragedy. The fire destroyed the building, but it will not destroy our will to fight for a quick return to the walls of our beloved ZS1,” it was written school's Facebook profile. “All people who would like to support the school in this difficult time, please donate to the parents' council account with the note “Fire”. We will not set up collections on websites and we do not identify with any online collections,” it added.

“It brought tears to my eyes when I saw what fire and water were doing in the place we love and where we work, in the extraordinary place that is school,” wrote Wioletta Krzyżanowska, the Masovian education superintendent, after the meeting at the school.
