The police in Grodzisk Mazowiecki detained a 44-year-old man who, during a domestic dispute with a knife in his hand, threatened and injured his wife. He was temporarily arrested.

On Monday, around 10 p.m., Grodzisk police were called to intervene in one of the houses in the Żabia Wola commune. – After arriving at the scene, the officers quickly determined that during another argument, the drunk husband had threatened and injured the reporting woman with a knife. The police took care of the safety of the household members, then found an aggressive 44-year-old man in the garage and subjected him to a sobriety test. The result is over the permille of alcohol in the body. The man was detained – said Staff Aspirant Katarzyna Zych, spokeswoman for the police in Grodzisk Mazowiecki.

Police: he had been using violence against his family for two years

After collecting information from family members, the intervening policemen initiated the “Blue Card” procedure.

During further investigations, it turned out that there had been fights in this house for about two years, and the detainee was using physical and mental violence not only against his wife, but also his teenage son and adult daughter.

– The collected materials allowed the man to be brought forward with criminal charges related to domestic violence against these people – said the spokeswoman.

At the request of the police and the District Prosecutor's Office in Żyradów, the court adopted a preventive measure in the form of arresting the man for three months. – Crimes committed by him under Art. 207 of the Penal Code (“Bullying” – ed.) are punishable by five or even fifteen years of imprisonment. Depending on the perpetrator's behavior and the consequences for the victims, explained staff midshipman Zych.

According to the statutory definition, domestic violence is a single or repeated intentional act or omission, taking advantage of physical, mental or economic advantage, violating the rights or personal rights of the person suffering domestic violence. If a police officer at the scene of a domestic intervention finds a direct threat to the life or health of the person experiencing violence, he or she will arrest the person using violence. It may also issue an order to the person to immediately leave the shared flat and its immediate surroundings and a ban on approaching the flat and its immediate surroundings for a period of 14 days, or a ban on approaching a person suffering domestic violence, or a ban on contacting a person suffering domestic violence. .
