Kamil Grosicki, who announced the end of his international career during the summer and is now only waiting for his farewell match at the National Stadium, is still one of the best players in the Ekstraklasa. After the last season, he received the award for midfielder of the season and player of the season. He won the award for the best league player for the second year in a row! The 36-year-old “Grosik” is still making a difference in our league. It is no wonder that he interests clubs not only during his matches against PogoÅ„ Szczecin.
They wanted the best player in the Ekstraklasa
According to our information, Grosicki was seriously interested in the Polish champion – Jagiellonia Białystok. Adrian Siemienic's team had several reasons to bring in the 94-time Polish representative. At the turn of July and August, it became clear that Jagiellonia would be left by one of the club's most valuable players recently, Dominik Marczuk. The 20-year-old winger gave his team 7 goals and 15 assists in 47 matches. Marczuk's transfer to the American MLS and Real Salt Lake for 1.5 million euros was officially confirmed on 14 August, right after the return match with Bodo/Glimt, after which Jagiellonia was eliminated from the Champions League qualifications. Earlier, in the second half of June, the contract with left forward Jose Naranjo was also terminated.
Jagiellonia was looking for a proven winger who would provide similar numbers, would be ready to play straight away and would not need time to enter the league or the team for a long time. Grosicki seemed to be an excellent option here. In addition, this player had already played in Białystok for two years, where he rebuilt himself after a difficult episode in Switzerland. In addition, the club was also constantly in the qualifications for the European cups, so it was looking for certain and proven solutions right away, so as not to weaken its squad. Grosicki was supposed to receive a very good contract offer and the prospect of fighting in European cups. The Polish champion eventually qualified for the Conference League. Grosicki ultimately did not take advantage of the offer to move to Białystok.
Grosicki stayed in Szczecin
Why? First of all, he wanted to continue playing for PogoÅ„, where he started his career, to function in his city, where he was born and where he feels good. In addition, “Grosik” still has something to prove in Szczecin and wants to help the club, where he has been playing for three years and has a contract signed until mid-2026. He will probably be a standout player for PogoÅ„ again, at the moment he is the leader in the most assists in the Ekstraklasa.
The transfer did not take place in the end, and Jagiellonia brought in 24-year-old Macedonian Darko Churlinow (loan from Burnley FC in England) and Marcin Listkowski (transfer from Lecce) to the wings. The former plays on the left or right wing. Although there are still a few days left until the end of the transfer window, the most interesting transfers within the Ekstraklasa will remain the transfers of Kacper Chodyna from Zagłębie Lubin to Legia Warsaw (for around 800 thousand euros), Patryk Makuch from Cracovia to Raków Częstochowa (for 1 million euros) and Ariel Mosór from Piast Gliwice to Częstochowa (for around 1.5 million euros).
