Group layoffs: 124 people have already lost their jobs at the Plati cable factory in Kwidzyn, and another 60 people will soon join them. Those laid off complain that the company did not pay them due severance pay for the notice period shortened from three months to one. The law provides for a three-month severance pay (in this case PLN 13,000) for people with more than eight years of experience. However, Plati did not fulfill this obligation. The case was reported to the National Labor Inspectorateas reported by trade unionists from “Solidarity”. Radio GdaÅ„sk determined that Plati's account was seized by a bailiff.
Reaction of the city and the intermediary: The authorities of Kwidzyń have known about the layoffs for a long time, but since we are talking about a private entity, the range of actions they can take is limited. However, the city intends to apply to companies for payment of severance pay due. Moreover, the District Labor Office in Kwidzyn is planning to organize a special meeting for former employees of the Plati factory, where they will learn what forms of assistance the office offers. At this point, the intermediary has been contacted 40 people who were granted benefits.
Reason for dismissal: They are related to transfer of Plati's operations outside Poland. The company will now operate in Romania and Germany, a Poland the factory will be closed.
