Police officers from Grudziądz and Inowrocław (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship), together with representatives of the State and Social Fisheries Guard, detained poachers who were illegally catching fish. The three men face up to two years in prison.
On Friday (March 17), the duty officer of the Grudziądz police unit received a report from the fishing guards about detaining a poacher on the Holy Lake in the Łasin commune. – The policemen detained a 69-year-old man who was illegally catching fish with a net – informed junior midshipman Łukasz Kowalczyk, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Grudziądz.
He added that the entire incident was recorded using a drone equipped with a camera. – At the place of residence of the 69-year-old, the police found more nets and fykes intended for fishing – said the policeman.
They were tempted by zander and bream
A similar event also took place on one of the lakes near Pakość in the Inowrocław district. Police officers in cooperation with the State and Social Fisheries Guard detained two poachers in the act.
– The services revealed 12 pieces of nets with a length of 600 meters and over 60 kilograms of fish. These are mainly zander and bream. The men, aged 42 and 46, have been detained in police custody, said Izabella Drobniecka, the press officer of the Poviat Police Headquarters in Inowrocław.
All three will now be held accountable for their behavior in court. According to the police, the men face up to two years in prison.
