There is a notification to the prosecutor's office

Minister for Equality Katarzyna Kotula On Tuesday, she informed about the submitting to the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw a notification of suspected crime by Braun.

The notification recalls paragraph 1 Article 288 of the Penal Code, talking about the destruction of things.

§ 1. Whoever destroys someone else's thing damages or does unfit for use, is subject to the penalty of imprisonment from 3 months to 5 years. In the event of less weight, the perpetrator is subject to a fine, the penalty of restriction of liberty or deprivation of liberty up to a year. § 3. The penalty specified in § 1 is also subject to the one who interrupts or damages the submarine cable or violates the provisions in force when installing or repairing such a cable. § 4. The prosecution of the crime specified in § 1 or 2 takes place at the request of the victim.

The minister in the notification applied for an examination of the exhibition in the Sejm and interrogation as a witness of the chairman of the left parliamentary club Anna Maria Żukowska.

In the justification, Kotul estimated that what Braun committed – taking into account his public statements, including naming LGBT people “public scandal” – was motivated by the prejudices of MEP towards this community and in her opinion it is a hate crime. “The destruction of property motivated by homophobia is undoubtedly a violation of the principle of equal treatment and this reason should be found with a legal reaction,” she wrote.

Chanka candles, blocked lecture, thrown Christmas tree. Grzegorz Braun's affairs

This is another matter towards MEP Braun. In May this year European Parliament He opened the immunity to Braun in the investigation into the extinguishing of chanuka candles with a fire extinguisher in the Sejm and a number of other incidents. It was also about an event at the German Historical Institute, where he blocked a lecture on the Holocaust, and an incident from the Krakow court, from which he took the Christmas tree set by the judges, then threw her into the trash. The conclusion also concerned the event in the building of the National Institute of Cardiology – the National Research Institute, where Grzegorz Braun was to violate the bodily integrity of a public official.

In April 2024, Braun heard the allegations concerning, among others insulting a group of people against religious people in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland – it was about the event with the extinguishing of chanka candles. In June 2024, however, he obtained a mandate of the EP MP and he was embarrassed by immunity. Holescent of it opened the road to Polish authorities for further actions in this matter towards the politician.

According to the Warsaw prosecutor's office on Tuesday, “the deadlines for procedural activities cannot interfere with the dates of the European Parliament's meetings”. As noted, these activities are planned next week. A spokesman for the Warsaw District Prosecutor's Office Piotr Antoni Skiba confirmed that Braun was called to the prosecutor's office for June 23 this year.

In turn, at the beginning of June this year, another application for the revocation of Braun's immunity was sent to the European Parliament. The case concerns the events of April 16 this year, when Braun – then the candidate in the first round presidential elections – he tried “detain civic” gynecolorki in a hospital in Oleśnica.

The allegations in this case are to relate to, among others unlawful deprivation of a doctor in the hospital, violation of her bodily integrity, verbal insulting during her performance of his duties, as well as slandering her about actions that can undermine confidence in the profession of a doctor.
