The operation to remove a swarm of wasps that had taken up residence on Grzybowski Square lasted over two hours. The insects had built a nest in a concrete pot next to a pastry shop and a café.
On the morning of August 17, city guards from the 1st Local Department received a report of a swarm of wasps swarming in Grzybowski Square. The insects were agitated and posed a threat to people nearby.
– The wasps built a nest in a concrete flowerpot placed on the sidewalk in front of one of the residential buildings – says junior guard Robert Herman, who took part in the intervention, quoted in the Warsaw City Guard's press release. – We asked the people sitting in the adjacent café garden to move inside the premises and called the fire brigade, which specializes in eliminating threats caused by the presence of insects – he adds.
The action lasted over two hours.
City guards cordoned off the area where the wasps were located to enable firefighters to work and protect bystanders from being bitten.
