The group boss mentioned they are going to “be extra cautious” with rising brake temperatures after Magnussen’s sensors burned out and stopped relaying data to the pitwall.
That ultimately tipped rear temperatures over the sting, which overheated the suspension, at which level the group misplaced knowledge from the brakes because the sensors had burned out.
Magnussen’s engineer had simply informed him that he needed to management temperatures when the left rear trackrod failed, sending him into the barrier.
“No, we did not change something,” mentioned Steiner when requested by Autosport if there have been any modifications on the vehicles to handle the temperature concern.
“We simply have to be extra cautious when it will get there, to brake extra with the engine, brake-by-wire, or simply to carry and coast. That is what we will do.
“It is little bit unlucky, as a result of it [the temperature] goes up, the brake does not fail, the sensors exit due to the warmth, after which no person is aware of anymore what is occurring, after which the suspension was damaged.
“As soon as it bought going, it was very fast, that was the explanation. The brake was clearly a bit of bit sizzling, impulsively, all of the sensors are gone. After which then the suspension snaps.”

Steiner conceded that the message from Magnussen’s engineer might have been despatched earlier.
“Yeah, it was too late,” he mentioned. “And with having no sensors anymore, you are considering the worst-case state of affairs, and in that case, it was. It was only a bit too late.”
Requested if the drivers had discovered a lesson about managing the brakes, Steiner added: “We discovered as effectively, when the sensors exit, it is too sizzling! It is fairly a great warning…”
Steiner confirmed that Magnussen’s chassis survived the accident with minor harm, and has been repaired for this weekend.
“Sure, it is already completed,” he mentioned. “They simply needed to change one sidepod inlet. A glued-in half, it is new, however the chassis is okay.
“The mechanics are rather well ready for this, so long as you’ve got bought the spare components. There was one half which is glued onto the automobile, the radiator inlet, they mounted it already on Sunday night time, so the glue can dry.
“When the automobile bought right here, it was already glued on. That is what they do today. These guys are very ready, all of the components are already pre-fitted. So it isn’t like that it’s a must to match issues, all of the tolerances are excellent. So it was no concern.
