IN “Halloween” Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) finally confronts Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney), the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his murderous rampage on Halloween night forty years ago. The production is a continuation of the horror film “Halloween” from 1978. Jamie Lee Curtis received a Saturn Award for Best Actress for her role as Laurie, and the film was also nominated for Best Horror.
The silence of the sheep
“The Silence of the Lambs” is a legendary thriller that scored five Oscars: for the best film, the best script, the best director and the two main actors. An FBI intern (Jodie Foster) is assigned by her superior to interrogate imprisoned cannibalistic psychopath Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) in the hopes that he will help discover the identity of the elusive serial killer. The film is an adaptation of the novel of the same title by Thomas Harris.
Visit
“Visit” tells the story of two siblings who are sent to their grandparents' house for a week. As the behavior of older caregivers becomes increasingly disturbing, children realize that their chances of returning home become increasingly slim. “'The Visit' is what we've been waiting for,” Forbes magazine wrote in its review of the horror film, rating it “excellent.”
Ghostbusters
“Ghostbusters” is a cult horror comedy that never ceases to entertain. Three unemployed parapsychologists, former employees of New York University, decide to create a professional company called “Ghostbusters”. At first, no one takes them seriously. The situation changes when New York is taken over by dark forces. It then turns out that Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) and Raymond Stantz (Dan Aykroyd) are the only ones who can save the city. The production received two Oscar nominations – for best special effects and for best song: the hit “Ghostbusters” performed by Ray Parker Jr.
The Witch: A New England Folk Tale
“The Witch: A New England Folk Tale” is a picture in which a 17th-century English farmer is afraid that he will be expelled from the colony by the church authorities, and decides to leave the plantation with his wife and five children. The destination of their journey is a remote farm that borders a gloomy forest where an unknown evil lurks. Almost immediately, strange and disturbing events begin to occur – animals show hostility to people, crops fail, one of the children disappears, and the other is possessed by the devil. Suspicion and paranoia are growing, and the family's situation is becoming more and more dramatic.
Beetlejuice
“Beetlejuice”Tim Burton's cult comedy. A young couple moves into a newly purchased house in a small town. Escaping from the chaos of the big city, they find peace and time for themselves there. However, the idyll does not last long because they die in a car accident. Their souls are trapped in the house. For procedural reasons, the administration of the world of the dead orders them to wait over a hundred years for the final judgment. At this time, the house of the deceased is bought by a rich family of eccentrics.
Down to the last bone
“To the Last Bone” tells the story of Maren (Taylor Russell) and Lee (Timothée Chalamet), who are social outcasts. Two young people search for their own identity and chase beauty in a dangerous world that cannot stand who they are. “To the Last Bone” is a film that mixes disgust with compassion, reminds us of empathy, but also encourages us to reflect on our own otherness. Guadagnino created a picture of a grotesque journey through life in which a person faces many difficult choices, all with an excellent cast.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”a cult classic from 1974, considered one of the best horror films in the history of cinematography.
