Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the crimes committed by Palestinian Hamas during the attack on Israel are the same as the crimes of the so-called Islamic State. “This vile enemy wanted war and he will get war,” he declared.

More than 1,500 people have been killed in the fighting between Hamas and Israel

Israeli TV channels reported on Monday that the death toll from the Hamas attack had risen to 900 Israelis. At least 2,600 were wounded and dozens were taken prisoner. Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that at least 687 Palestinians have been killed and 3,726 wounded in Israeli airstrikes.

On Monday, the fighting lasted until late at night. The Israeli military said it attacked targets in the Gaza Strip from sea and air, including a weapons cache it said belonged to Islamic Jihad and Hamas.

As Reuters reported, witnesses said several Hamas security headquarters and ministries were hit, and rocket attacks destroyed some roads and houses. Israel also bombed the headquarters of the private Palestinian Telecommunications Co., which could affect landline, Internet and mobile phone services. Palestinian media reported Israeli air attacks on hospitals and homes.

Hamas spokesman Abu Ubaida threatened on Monday that Hamas will execute Israeli prisoners for any Israeli bombing of civilian targets without warning.
