Hamas attack on Israel. Romania: there are no free evacuation flights, passengers must pay for the ticket

Evacuation flights organized by the Romanian authorities are performed by Tarom airlines and machines of private companies. Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said that since Saturday, when Palestinian Hamas launched an attack on Israel, a total of 10 flights took place and over 1,700 people were evacuated from Israel. On Thursday, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the evacuation of another 239 citizens Romania.

– There are no free evacuation flights from Israel, and the ticket cost will be refunded only in exceptional situations – emphasized the Romanian Prime Minister. Tarom Airlines set the ticket cost at EUR 350, i.e. the equivalent of approximately PLN 1,500. According to the Prime Minister, this only covers the costs of operating flights. Ciolacu noted that despite the risk, unlike others, these airlines decided to organize flights at all.

He added that in some situations, money will be returned to people in exceptionally difficult situations. – We cannot turn Romania and Romanian companies (airlines) into the Red Cross – the Digi24 website recalls the prime minister’s words.

According to the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a special crisis cell has been operating in the ministry since Saturday, and a special mobile team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been sent to Israel to support diplomats on the spot helping citizens who want to return to the country.

The Romanian authorities have so far announced the death of one person with Romanian citizenship. He is an Israeli military man who had dual citizenship.
