Abdulsalam Haniyeh, the son of the late Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, says he was killed by a guided missile that targeted his phone, Saudi website Al Arabiya reported on Saturday.
Abdulsalam Haniyeh said the attack on his father was “not very complicated” and that he was constantly using his phone.
Haniyeh was killed in an attack that took place on the last day of July in Tehran. He lives in Qatar the Hamas leader was in the capital Iran on the occasion of the inauguration of the new president of this country, Masud Peshehkian.
Several hypotheses regarding the death of the Hamas leader
There have been several hypotheses about how the attack was organized. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) initially reported that a short-range missile containing about 7 kilograms of explosives was fired at the building. Other sources said it was an airstrike, using a drone or plane. The New York Times, on the other hand, claimed that the explosion was caused by a device placed weeks earlier in an apartment where the Hamas leader was staying.
