Officers detained a 19-year-old resident of Ełk, who called the police in Gdynia, claiming that he had seen Grzegorz Borys in the forest near Łężyce in Pomerania. He allegedly threatened him with a knife. The man will be charged with obstructing the investigation into the suspected murder of the son of a 44-year-old Navy soldier, the police said.

Karina Kamińska, spokeswoman for the Provincial Police Headquarters in Gdańsk, said that on Friday the police received a report that Grzegorz Borys had been spotted near Łężyce near Gdynia.

– The suspect allegedly lit a fire and threatened a man who noticed him with a knife. Police officers were immediately sent to the scene, but they did not confirm this report, Kamińska added.

Late on Friday afternoon, information appeared on Tri-City internet forums that police and military police patrols had been seen in the vicinity of Łężyce and Zbychów. The Nowy Dwór Wejherowski commune warned residents on its Facebook account: “Dear residents of our area, please do not go for walks in the surrounding forests and stay at home if possible. There are searches and intensified work of uniformed services on the Reda-Zbychowo route (probably Grzegorz Borys, father of the killed 6-year-old from Gdynia). Please do not obstruct the work of the search services.”

As Karina Kamińska, spokeswoman for the Police Headquarters in Gdańsk, informed in the evening, the police immediately suspected that they were dealing with a false report.

– However, each piece of information requires careful verification. The police determined that the emergency number was called by a man who intentionally misled the police by providing false information. The police identified the perpetrator of this crime – he is a resident of the province. Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship – Kamińska said. Late on Friday evening, a 19-year-old resident of Ełk was detained. The man will be charged with obstructing criminal proceedings regarding murder and the search for suspect Grzegorz Borys conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk, Military Department, by helping the perpetrator of the crime by providing police officers from the Gdynia Police Headquarters with false information about the whereabouts of Grzegorz Borys. , i.e. an act under Art. 239 par. 1 of the Penal Code.
