A 48-year-old wanted by the court was arrested after stealing fuel from a petrol station. The thief was chased by the owner of the petrol station, who called the police for help.

The spokeswoman for the police in Ostrów Mazowiecka, Asp. Marzena Laczkowska, said that when the owner of the station noticed that the Hyundai driver had not paid for the fuel and had driven away, he got into his car and went after him. He kept the police informed about their whereabouts.

Two police patrols were sent to the scene. – The fugitives drove onto a dirt road, abandoned their car and tried to escape into the nearby forest. The police were faster and after a chase, they detained the 48-year-old driver and his 44-year-old passenger – the spokeswoman reported.

Drunk and wanted

As it turned out, the driver had over 2.6 per mille of alcohol in his system. He was also wanted by the Ostrów court to serve a sentence of over two months in prison and was banned from driving.

The 48-year-old was arrested and sent to prison for two months. He faces up to five years in prison for stealing a cigarette.
