He disappeared after the murder of a businessman, “Coyot” was hiding almost 22 years

The murder of a businessman took place on August 5, 2003 in one of the building wholesalers in Jelenia Góra. As established in the course of the investigation, several shots in the direction of 33-year-old Robert S. were fired from two copies of weapons. The businessman died on the spot, he had gunshot wounds all over his body. He dealt with the granting of loans for a percentage.

According to investigators, the money was borrowed from him, among others, the owner of the ski lift in Świeradów-Zdrój and the wholesalers located there. Robert S. wanted to take over the lift, but – according to the findings of the investigation – its owner did not intend to give his investment and lured the creditor to the warehouse, where four men were waiting for him. This is where the murder was awake.

According to the police, the suspected of making this act is now 52-year-old Rafał Z. He left the territory of Poland right after the incident and began to hide.

The District Prosecutor's Office in Jelenia Góra issued a warrant behind him, and the search activities were conducted by police from the Provincial Headquarters in Wrocław.

“Due to the findings that the wanted person is abroad, international searches were also initiated, and each thread was carefully analyzed. However, Rafał Z. completely broke off family and social contacts,” says the Police Headquarters.

Over the years, it failed to find him. In 2021 there was a breakthrough in this matter. Intensive searches had an effect. The police have determined that the “coyot” is in the area Spain And he uses a new identity. According to police findings, the man committed subsequent crimes on the territory of Spanish.

“In August 2021, as a result of actions taken by Spanish services, it was arrested. Spanish court, during the extradition procedure, applied a preventive measure in the form of police supervision. Rafał Z. did not follow the court's order and began to hide again” – The police explain.

Policemen had to start searching from the beginning. Based on the experience, investigators determined that he could stay in the central and eastern Spain. The wanted person used further false personal data.

Thanks to the cooperation of policemen from the Search and Identification Department of the KWP in Wrocław, the KGP criminal office and the Spanish police (Policia Nacional), February 20, 2025. In the morning Rafał Z. was detained by a specialized search team from Madrid.

Rafał Z. was wanted not only by Poland, but also by the Spanish justice system. First, he will answer now for what he did in Spain, and then he will come back – already in police assistance – to Poland.
