Marcin Ł. Promised high profits for investors. Eventually, he was accused of extorting over PLN 2.5 million from several dozen people. He was sentenced to seven years in prison. He must also return everything to the victims.
The trial took place before the District Court in Jelenia Góra. According to Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Jelenia Góra, the indictment went to court in 2019. Marcin Ł. Was accused of extorting over PLN 2.5 million.
There was no profits, there is no money
Marcin Ł. Through other people with whom he cooperated, he informed potential investors about the planned investment on the Forex currency market, encouraging a very high interest rate of funds paid at 30-60 percent. At the same time, he determined the level of risk to 3-5 percent.
As the prosecutor's office explains, with time the funds paid by the victims were invested only in the minimum part. To make up for the fulfillment of concluded contracts, they were intended, among others to pay interest to people who made such payments earlier. The rest was used for private purposes by the accused.
Seven years in prison and the obligation to return money
– The District Court, sharing the position of the prosecutor, found Marcin Ł .'s guilt, imposing a total penalty of seven years imprisonment and a fine of PLN 14,000.
The verdict is not final.
Ł. He is not the only person convicted in this matter. Earlier, two other people heard similar judgments.
