Health insurance premium to be changed? Entrepreneurs will be able to deduct it from tax

Journalists have determined that the government intends to restore the rules for calculating health insurance contributions that were in force before the PiS reform. They concern a fixed, flat-rate contribution that could be tax deductible by entrepreneurs. The changes are to come into force on 1 January 2025. For now, the arrangements have been forwarded to the Ministry of Finance, whose task is to calculate and compose a project with next year's budget.

Is returning to the old rules for calculating health insurance contributions beneficial?

As reported by RMF24, the return to the old rules is due to the fact that the new ideas did not gain majority support. The coalition leaders were supposed to state that the idea is a guarantee of better financing of health care. The solution is also supposed to be beneficial for entrepreneurs. According to RMF FM economic journalist Krzysztof Berenda, this variant will be less complicated than the one proposed by the Left.

How they wroteWe at Gazeta.pl, in March the Ministry of Finance planned to simplify the calculation of the health insurance contribution and reduce its amount for entrepreneurs with low and medium income. This would eliminate the need to calculate the contribution every month. However, the idea aroused opposing voices, indicating that the system is unfair. It was argued that the costs related to maintaining health care would be burdened on people working full-time.
