The final meeting is scheduled for Thursday at the “Dialog” Social Partnership Center in Warsaw. There is no decision to extend the talks – said the spokesman of the “white town” Gilbert Kolbe.
A spokesman asked at a press briefing about the absence of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at the meetings, said that “of course, we would like both the Minister of Health and the Prime Minister to take part in the meeting, because it would surely make the talks go faster.” – We appeal for it every day and we talk about it every day – he added.
– However, after what happened in the white town (death of a man – ed.), we have made the decision to speak to a government representative. If Minister Bromber is a person delegated by the government to talks, we believe that he is substantially prepared to conclude an agreement and has the appropriate authorizations – he added.
Kolbe: Polish patients now have nobody to report to
When asked if the protesting medics were concerned about the reaction of Poles to the escalation of the protest, which would be related, among other things, to the fact that patients would have difficult access to medical assistance, he replied: – Polish patients now have no one to report to. What is happening now in health care is enough to make them very dissatisfied. In addition, we educate Polish patients every day about who is responsible for the functioning of the service.
Kolbe: if the minister is still not ready, there will be last-chance talks on Thursday
During Friday’s conference in a white town, the spokesman said that in connection with the penultimate meeting in “Dialogue”, the committee hopes to conclude an agreement.
– If the minister is still not ready, there will be last-chance talks on Thursday – he stressed.
– If there is no agreement, we will exacerbate the protest even more. We don’t want to sound like we’re scaring someone. We are guided by the good of our patients. The possibilities are wide – he said.
So far, four meetings of the management of the Ministry of Health and the Protest and Strike Committee of Healthcare Workers have been held. On September 21, 23, 28 and 30, the talks were held at the “Dialog” Social Partnership Center in Warsaw. The next meeting is planned for October 2.
The National Protest and Strike Committee for Healthcare Workers has eight demands. They include, among others increases and a real increase in the valuation of benefits, the introduction of sick leave after 15 years of professional work, as well as the adoption of the laws on laboratory medicine and the profession of a paramedic.
According to the Ministry of Health, the implementation of the wage demands of the protesting medics is unsustainable in next year’s budget. The ministry declares that it wants to talk about wages and the path of their increase.
On September 11, after a manifestation of health care workers in Warsaw, a white town 2.0 was created near the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, referring to the white town of nurses from 2007.
