Podkarpackie firefighters intervened as many as 60 times in connection with the intense snowfall that appeared on Thursday. Nothing happened to anyone. Authorities urged caution.
More than 60 times firefighters left on Thursday in Podkarpacie to remove the effects of intense snowfall – informed the spokesman of the Podkarpackie fire brigade, Brigadier Marcin Betleja.
The activities – he noted – “consisted mainly in removing broken branches and trees lying on roadways, sidewalks, power lines”.
– Fortunately, nothing serious happened. No one was injured, Bethlehem added. The Commissioner for Human Rights reported that the largest number of interventions was recorded in the Krosno poviat. He also called for caution. – Avoid wooded places, do not enter parks, forests. A broken branch or tree can hurt someone, he said.
In Podkarpacie, where heavy snowfall has been recorded since the morning, all national and provincial roads are passable. In the south of the region, their surfaces are wet black, whitened with slush and driven snow.
The forecasters of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management also warn against dangerous conditions in Podkarpacie. There are orange and yellow alerts for heavy snowfall in the province. Up to 30 centimeters of snow may fall in the foothill counties. In the remaining regions covered by warnings, the sum of rainfall will reach 20 cm.
In addition, icing is also forecast.
In the following days, heavy snowfall will cover not only Podkarpacie, but also the vast majority of the country.
On Friday evening, however, another humid than with an atmospheric front will enter us from the south-east. On Saturday, it will move quite dynamically over the area of our country, bringing gusty winds and snow and sleet with rain, which can be quite heavy in places.
