A 33-year-old came to the police headquarters in Chełm (lubelskie voivodeship) to complain about his wife’s misbehavior. He stated that “the woman was up to something because she took his documents.” During the conversation, the policeman smelled alcohol from him. The breathalyzer test showed over 1.5 per mille. He never returned home by car, spent the night in police custody.
An unusual intervention took place during the night from Thursday to Friday. A 33-year-old Romanian citizen arrived in a Mercedes and entered the police station. The person on duty informed about “inappropriate behavior of his wife”. He stated that “the woman was up to something because she took his documents.”
Suspicious on duty
– His behavior aroused the policeman’s suspicions as it indicated that the man might be under the influence of alcohol. He was not wrong – says Sergeant Major Angelika Głąb-Kunysz from the Lublin police. And he adds: – The breathalyzer test showed over one and a half per milliliter of alcohol in his body.
The 33-year-old never returned home by car, and spent the night in police custody.
For driving a car on a public road while drunk, he may be imprisoned for up to two years, a driving ban for three to 15 years, and a compulsory payment for the Victims’ Aid and Post-penitentiary Assistance Fund in the amount of five to 60 thousand zlotys.
